چکیده
the anti-carcinogenic activity of certain organic compounds, some of which are closely related to the carcinogenic hydrocarbons. Lacassagne et al. (2, 3) have reported that the addition of certain weak carcinogens to stronger ones will inhibit the carcinogenic activity of the latter when applied to the skin of mice. They studied the effects of 1,2,,5,6-dibenzofluorene and of chrysene when applied with methyicholan threne, and of 1,@,5,6-dibenzacridine when ap plied with l,@,5,6-dibenzanthracene. These work

Evidence for bay region activation of chrysene 1,2-dihydrodiol to an ultimate carcinogen.
The tumor-initiating activities of chrysene and the three metabolically possible trans-dihydrodiols at the 1,2-, 3,4-, and 5,6-positions of chyrsene were determined on the skin of female CD-1 mice. A single topical application of 0.4, 1.25, or 4.0 mumol of each compound was followed 7 days later by twice-weekly applications of the tumor promoter 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate for 25 weeks...

INTRODUCTION The summation or additive effects of carcino genie agents have received much attention in ef forts made to understand the action of carcinogens and the events that occur in carcinogenesis (5, 21). Chemical carcinogens, tumor-producing viruses, radiant energy, and trauma have been tried in various combinations (46) . Some agents showed summation, others did not, and a third group sh...
متن کاملOccurrence and Distribution of Chrysene and its Derivatives in Crude Oils and Source Rock Extracts from Niger Delta, Nigeria
Crude oils and source rocks from the northern and offshore Niger Delta basin, Nigeria, have been characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in terms of their origin and thermal maturity based on the distribution of chrysene and its derivatives. The crude oils and source rocks were characterized by the dominance of chrysene over benzo[a]anthracene. 3-methylchrysene predominated over o...

The syn- and anti-isomers of the bay-region diol-epoxides of chrysene and of 3-hydroxychrysene and their metabolic precursors have been investigated for mutagenicity in Salmonella typhimurium (reversion to histidine prototrophy) and V79 Chinese hamster cells (acquirement of resistance to 6-thioguanine) and for transforming activity in M2 mouse prostate cells. Other known and potential chrysene ...

nogenic activity (4). Chrysene, which has one more benzene ring than does phenanthrene, is a symmetrical molecule with 2 identical bay regions (Chart 1). Chrysene has weak activity in carcinogenicity tests (4, 11). Quantum mechanical aspects of the bay region theory predict (6) that bay-region 1,2-diol 3,4-epoxides of chrysene and phenanthrene should have sim ilar chemical reactivities. Kinetic...
